Job Summary
Our client is currently seeking a qualified hotel accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the hospitality industry, as well as a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
He or she will be responsible for managing the hotel’s financial records, preparing monthly and annual reports, and assisting with the budgeting process.
The Hotel Accountant will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for the hotel in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts on a monthly basis.
Process Accounts Payable invoices in a timely manner and track vendor payments.
Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports to hotel management.
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
Monitor hotel revenue and expenses to identify trends and variances.
Conduct monthly audits of hotel departments.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
Maintain confidentiality of all hotel information.
Adhere to all hotel, state, and federal regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned by hotel management.
Assist in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and procedures.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3 years’ experience in an accounting role, preferably within the hospitality industry.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, with aptitude to learn new software and systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Experience with hotel property management systems (PMS), such as Opera or Micros.
Familiarity with revenue management concepts.
Working knowledge of SQL.
