Job Overview
We seek a dedicated Communication Officer to oversee and implement effective communication strategies across our organisation.
The role entails managing our social media accounts, developing a content calendar, executing public relations initiatives, coordinating fundraising efforts, building media relationships and overseeing all other communication strategies within the organisation to convey the vision of our organisation, which is to accelerate the social acceptance of lgbt people in Nigeria.
General Responsibilities
Developing Communication Strategies:
Create and implement comprehensive communication plans aligned with organisational goals.
Identify key messages and target audiences for communication campaigns.
Content Creation:
Write, edit, and proofread various types of content, including press releases, articles, blog posts, newsletters, and social media posts and respond to media inquiries.
Draw a content calendar with all events and activities and implement them accordingly.
Develop engaging and informative materials that effectively communicate the organisation's message.
Social Media Management:
Manage and oversee the organisation's presence on all social media platforms.
Develop and execute social media campaigns to enhance brand awareness and fundraising.
Update and maintain the organisation's website.
Crisis Communication
Develop crisis communication plans and respond to media inquiries during crises.
Work with the team to manage and mitigate communication challenges.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Monitor media coverage and social media trends related to the organisation.
Prepare regular reports on the effectiveness of communication strategies.
Professional Qualifications
2+ years experience in content creation, Public relations, Fundraising, and any related field.
Proven experience in the role, demonstrating successful communication campaigns.
Passionate about LGBTQ+ issues.
Required Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Understanding of the media landscape and narrative in Nigeria
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency in using social media platforms and content creation tools like Canva, photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro, Mailchimp, etc
Fundraising skills and strategies
Ability to work remotely
Ability to work with a team
Creativity: to develop engaging and creative content that captures the audience's attention and effectively communicates the intended message.
Crisis management and problem-solving skills
Ability to work with little or no supervision
