Job Summary
The Engineering Storekeeper is responsible for managing and maintaining the engineering store, ensuring efficient inventory control, and facilitating the timely supply of materials and equipment required for engineering and operations activities.
This role involves coordinating with various departments, suppliers, and vendors to optimize stock levels, minimize costs, and support smooth engineering operations.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of all items in the engineering store.
Conduct regular stock checks to ensure physical inventory matches the system records.
Implement and manage a system for tracking stock levels, reordering, and replenishment.
Procurement:
Collaborate with the procurement team to identify and source required materials, spare parts, and equipment.
Obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and negotiate favourable terms and conditions.
Place purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials to meet project timelines.
Receiving and Inspection:
Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against purchase orders, and inspect for quality and accuracy.
Work closely with the quality control team to ensure that all incoming materials meet specified standards.
Manage the return of defective or incorrect items to suppliers.
Issuing and Distribution:
Fulfill internal requisitions for materials, tools, and equipment.
Coordinate with different departments to understand their material needs and allocate resources accordingly.
Ensure that materials are issued in a timely and organized manner.
Vendor Management:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate contracts to secure favourable terms.
Identify alternative suppliers to ensure a diverse and reliable supply chain.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to inventory, purchases, and supplier information.
Generate regular reports on stock levels, consumption, and procurement activities.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and regulations in the handling and storage of materials.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant industry standards.
Cost Control:
Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or operational efficiency.
Monitor and control expenditures related to inventory and procurement activities.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Proven experience in inventory management and procurement, preferably in an engineering or operations setting.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to procurement and inventory management.
Proficient in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.
