Project Overview:

This independent project seeks to assess the perinatal health services in Lagos, Nigeria, focusing on data collection, community engagement, and relationship building. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in gathering insights from various stakeholders, including traditional birth attendants, healthcare providers, community health workers, as well as in health policy to inform comprehensive recommendations for service improvement.

Role Summary:


We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated, high performing, proactive and culturally competent individual who currently resides in Lagos, Nigeria, to fill this project management contract role.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent field research and analytical skills, project management, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, a deep understanding of the Nigerian healthcare landscape, and ability to build sustainable relationships with stakeholders.


Responsibilities:


Conduct field visits to assigned communities in Lagos, Nigeria.

Develop and implement data collection tools (e.g., surveys, interview guides) aligned with project objectives.

Conduct individual and group interviews with traditional birth attendants, healthcare providers, community health workers, and other relevant stakeholders.

Build rapport and trust with community members and project stakeholders.

Accurately document observations, findings, and insights from field visits and interviews.

Participate in regular team meetings and debriefing sessions to share updates and progress.

Maintain detailed records and reports of all project activities.

Ensure adherence to project timelines and budget constraints.

Adapt to changing project requirements and demonstrate flexibility in work approach.

Support and process IRB application for approval where applicable.


Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, or a related field.

Minimum 2-3 years of experience in project management, preferably in the healthcare, public health, or development sector. Experience in conducting field research in Nigeria is a plus.

Proven experience in data collection, including qualitative and quantitative methods.

Proven experience in project management. PMP certification or other related certification is a plus.

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.

Strong cultural sensitivity and understanding of the Nigerian context.

Fluency in English and proficiency in a local Nigerian language (Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo) is highly desirable.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in data collection tools (e.g., SurveyCTO)


Preferred:


Passion/strong interest in maternal and child health.

Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., STATA, R, SPSS), qualitative software (e.g., Nvivo) is a plus.

Proficiency in writing manuscripts, proposals, TOR and grants.

Existing relationship with community members and project stakeholders, is a plus.


Contract Terms:


This role is with an initial contract period of 3 months, with the potential for extension based on performance and project needs, (as well as potential to become a permanent role).
